I was tempted to give you a quick review of each book but instead I’ve featured my top 5 on display in our makeshift library. I want you to find out for yourself why I chose each one. Please read and enjoy!

Do you have a top 5 like me or just one all time favourite? I’d love to hear what it is.

Coming soon: my top 5 picture books by international authors. Look out for books by Anthony Browne, Lynley Dodd, David Cali, David Wiesner, Karin Gruss.

  1. My fav picture book is Pig the Pug. I loved the part where he got smelly because he went in the mud.

    • I love this book too Madalyn. Aaron Blabey is a very clever author and illustrator. I’m super excited because Pig the Fibber has just been published. I have two copies on order. I can’t wait to see what Pig gets up to in this book.

  2. My favourite picture book is Window because it changes on every page and it show the boy growing older.

  3. I like Dr Seuss because they are soo funny and have very good illustrations. They also have lots of rhymes that are really good. Probably The Lorax is my fave and I have watched the movie and that is also very good.

  4. My favourite picture book is Lion. This book tells you about how a baby lion lives. The book is written by Suzi Eszterhas.

  5. My favourite picture book is ‘Is that my egg ?’ The book is by Keith Faulkner and illustrated by Jonathan Lambert. This book is my favourite because it tells the story of a mother chicken looking for egg. Inside the egg is a baby chicken. Some of the animals she visits include an ostrich, a snake, turtle, crocodile, eagle and a platypus. It is very funny and I enjoy reading it.

  6. Hello Mrs riding,
My top 5 favourite Australian picture books are
    5. The Big Little Book of Happy Sadness
    4. Are We There Yet?
    3. The Red Tree
    2. The Rabbits
    1. The Arrival

    • The Big Little Book of Happy Sadness is also a favourite of mine but I often find it hard to read without shedding a tear. George and I have much in common. I guess that’s the power of a great book. The ability to touch our heart and leave a lasting impression.
