Fire by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley

Fire by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley is about a bush fire that is ripping through an Australian bush. It is ruining everybody’s life, animal life, human life, and especially putting firemen’s lives at risk. I wish this phenomenon would stop!

Fire is a really good book for the young and old! Some people will think that it is a bit boring but when they read it they will be surprised that it is a really good book! This is what happened to me.

One step at a time by Jan Jolly and Sally Heinrich

Mali the elephant was looking for bananas.

The elephant, Mali, lost a leg and couldn’t stand up. Luk tried to help her. He took her to a cave made of ice then he ran off to a temple to get help. Then they went to a camp site where they made her a fake leg.

Mali the elephant was protected by a young boy called Luk. When Mali was injured in a landmine Luk helped Mali by staying with him. I thought Mali was going to pass out because she stepped on a landmine, that can kill you straight away. But she was an elephant. Luk was pretty freaked out, maybe he thought that she was going to pass out too.

It made me feel sad because I think elephants are endangered species.

The 27th Annual African Hippopotamus Race by Morris Lurie

This fabulous story was one of my all time books from when I was in Primary School.

It is a story about a shy, kind and caring Hippo named Edward and his determination to enter and win The 27th Annual African Hippopotamus Race held in the magnificent Zamboola River. A river filled with dangers, waterfalls and treacherous water. Edward comes up against a very naughty and sly Sebastian who is his BIG competition and Sebastian causes many problems for Edward leading up to and during the actual race.

This is a story about challenging yourself, doing your personal best and most importantly making positive choices.
I would recommend this book to children aged from 8 years and on. It is a feel good story, easy to read and has many exciting chapters which make it difficult to put the book down.

If you have read this book or when you do choose to read it come and let me know.
Happy reading!

Fire by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley

(Fire) is a really good book because during the fire the fire brigade comes out and helps the people fighting the fire. Everyone in the community comes and helps each other out.

In the book (Fire) after the fire is put out, the SES people come and give food and water to the animals.

After the fire, people stand outside their homes and cry at what has been lost.

I recommend this book to the young and old because all the community members got together and helped each other out and we can learn from the book.

Lily And The Fairy House by Jane Tanner

Lily and the fairy house is my favourite book. I love this book. I was given this book as a gift for getting citizenship in year 1. The book is about a girl named Lily. No not me, another girl named Lily. Lily knows that fairies live near the gum tree. She has made a fairy house with a rose petal bed and a gum leaf table and today she is putting on a fairy party there is yummy cake and honey tea. The fairies love the party and ask to play with Lily. They have a great time together. The fairies even make Lily a fairy crown made out of flowers to thank her for the party. But just as Lily puts on her crown the fairies vanish. Where did they go? Lily hears birds chirping loudly. Lily follows the sound and comes across the fairies crying. Lily we need your help. Lily sees a tiny egg has fallen from a nest. She carefully picks it up and puts it back in the nest. The birds chirp around Lily happy to have their egg back. The fairies thank Lily for all her help. Lily has had a wonderful day. I wonder what will happen tomorrow down by the old gum tree.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter is a story about a young boy that grows up as an orphan. As time passed he realised he could make some odd things happen. As it turns out he is a wizard. Harry attends a school for witches and wizards called Hogwarts. Here he learns how to use and control magic, concoct and brew potions, look after magical creatures and even fly a broomstick. Along the way he makes some lifelong friends and enemies including the most evil and dark wizard in the world.

The book sucks you in with its way of making magic come to life. It has moments of danger, action, suspense, laughter and tears as the characters battle their way through their first year at Hogwarts and struggle to save the Philosophers Stone.

Inside the book there are ghosts, three headed dogs, dragons and giants for you to discover and learn about and that is not even mentioning wizards chess or invisibility cloaks.

I recommend this book to everyone to read as it is only the start of a 7 book long journey. The book can be found in the library for you all to borrow.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask a question at school or below in the comments 🙂

Fire by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley

THIS BOOK IS ON FIRE LITERALLY! Fire is really well illustrated by Bruce Whatley. I give it a 5 star rating. I also like all the fancy words used in this book, the words really match the pictures.

Even though there were very few characters Fire was still really good. My opinion of this book is it’s GREAT, definitely read this book.

I recommend this book to everyone! There is always one book you like and this is mine but just maybe it could also be yours. I promise you that there is at least one bit of this book you will like.

All the books that Jackie French writes are all so good. I could just sit under a tree and READ, READ AND READ.

The Cloud Castle by Thea Stilton

The Cloud Castle is about the adventures of the Thea Sisters – Collette, Pamela, Violet, Nicky and Paulina. The Land of the Clouds is a magic place full of fairies and unicorns, ruled by Queen Nephele. The sisters search for who is missing in Cloud Castle and solve the mystery.
I like the book because it gives me a good picture of what is happening in the story. My favourite characters are Violet and Collette because they wear my favourite colour clothes. My favourite part of the book is at the end, you will have to read it to find out what happens!

The 52-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton

Andy and Terry’s incredible, ever expanding treehouse has thirteen new storeys including a watermelon smashing level, a wave machine, a real life snakes and ladders game (with real snakes and ladders) and plenty more.

I recommend this book because it is funny. The main point is about when they try to find Mr Big Nose their publisher and end up getting eaten up for lunch by veggies! How ridiculous.

Blueback by Tim Winton

Blueback is a book about a boy named Abel who loves the sea. He goes out one day in a dinghy looking for crayfish. He dives down deep under the sea to look for crayfish on the rocks. A huge black shadow surrounds him. He picks up a crayfish and something pulls it out of his hand. He panics and swims back to the surface.

Do you know what the shadow is? If you want to find out you’ll have to read this wonderful book.

THE ENORMOUS BOOK OF HOT JOKES FOR KOOL KIDS author Andy Jones

I think this joke book is one of a kind.
Because of all of those funny jokes I just couldn’t put the book down.
I think the best joke was:

A schoolboy went to the teacher and said, ” May I go to the bathroom? “The teacher answered, “First say the alphabet” ,so he started saying it:
abcdefghigklnmoqrstuvwxyz”.
When the boy had finished the teacher asked, “what happened to the P?”
the boy looked down…

See what I mean. This book has loads of cool and funny jokes. Thanks for making this book. I really loved it 🙂
